CURRENT EVENTS THE TATRAS AS A CURE:

MONDAY

YEAR-ROUND EXERCISES – YOGA, BREATHING EXERCISES

The Region of the High Tatras invites all enthusiasts of active movement to exercise and stay healthy all year round.

Stimulate your body and calm your mind with exercises supervised by a professional instructor, which will always be adapted to the participants’ abilities and suitable for all age groups.

Location: Nový Smokovec, Villa Siesta

Time: 16:00 hod.

In term: year-round

Exercise mats are available free of charge and comfortable clothing is recommended.

Entry is free.

Summer Exercise Series The Tatras as a cure

Location: Starý Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, Štrbské Pleso

The exercise series was focused on fighting work exhaustion and illnesses while staying in the High Tatras – in nature which has miraculous healing effects in every season. The exercises were done at various locations in a regular cycle all week round as follows:

TUESDAY – YOGA , Location: Hrebienok resort II., outside by the resort pool, Time: 09:00 a.m., in the term: 04.07.-29.08.2023.

WEDNESDAY- NORDIC WALKING, Location: Štrbské Pleso, sports area, Time: 04:00 p.m., in the term: 05.07. – 31.08.2023.

THURSDAY – NORDIC WALKING, Location: Tatranská Lomnica, town park, Time:: 04:00 p.m., in the term: 05.07. – 31.08.2023.

FRIDAY – EXERCISES WITH COACH MATÚŠ ŠPIRKO, Location: Tatranská Lomnica, town park, Time:03:00 pm., in the term: 07.-07.- 25.08.2023.

Approximately 300 people participated in all exercises and trainings.

The Tatras as a Cure Festival

The Tatras as a Cure Festival was held to give a final flourish to the Summer Exercise Series and combined with activities focusing on the main idea – fighting work exhaustion and illnesses while staying in the High Tatras. The programme was based mainly on consultations and the opportunity to try out equipment or learn how to move correctly when doing individual sports, what to eat before, during and after, and it was meant for regular tourists as well as recreational athletes. It also served as an accompanying event before the 2nd edition of the Nordic Walking World Cup.

The event took place on 15th September 2023 and was joined by:

Healthy nutrition Denisa Dvorská – Certified nutrition coach (Certified nutrition coach, deals with drawing up individual meal plans for athletes)

Nordic walking (Nordic discipline Nordic Walking combined with Bodyweight exercises led by Jana Stejskala – president of the Czech-Moravian Federation NW)

Skialp club – (how to be ready for the skialp season – the pitfalls of ski mountaineeringwere presented by young athletes Samuel Müncner and Ema Tokarčíková)

The Tatras as a Cure Challenge – How many kilometres can we walk together around Štrbské pleso (tarn) during the Venetian Night event?

Location: Štrbské Pleso

As part of “The Tatras as a Cure” project, visitors could participate in monitoring the kilometres completed during the Venetian Night event, which took place on 22nd July 2023. Everyone who walked around Štrbské pleso (tarn) at least once was included in a draw and could win attractive prizes.

The main goal of the challenge was to collectively walk 1,000 km. The goal was achieved and during the event, 1,205 km were completed. Some visitors walked around the tarn (the length of the circuit was 2.2 km) several times and contributed not only to achieving the goal but also did something for their health. A total of 548 people participated in the challenge.

Dedicated to Children and Yoga for a Clear Mind

Location: Poprad

On 29th September 2023, “The Tatras as a Cure” project continued by beautifying the park near the so-called House of Culture in Poprad with Tatranka the Fairy, forest animals and children. Various types of flowers and trees were planted in the city park and a forester came to talk about nature and how to behave in it. In the afternoon, yoga was practised with an experienced instructor in the park near the House of Culture.

 

The Tatras ac a cure – BEDMINTON A PETANG

Location: Tatranská Lomnica, playground near the elementary school

From June to October, people could play badminton and petanque for free at the primary school in Tatranská Lomnica every Monday and Tuesday.
